Fuechtmann rink scores 5 points in 8th end of the fifth and deciding game to clinch the US Team trials held at St. Paul on April 16-17, 2010. Fuechtmann rink earned the right to represent USA at 2011 Winter Deaflympics in Slovakia, winning 3 games to 2. Leading by 1 point in the 8th end of the 5th game, Herman made a tough shot around a well placed guard to tap back Farovitch's rock that was sitting near the button. Farovitch conceded the game, 14-8 with 2 ends to go. Farovitch won the first match on Friday morning, 10-4. Fuechtmann won 13-3 and 11-4 to take a 2-1 series lead.. Farovitch won the thrilling 4th game in extra ends to force a fifth game. With Mark Adams throwing last, they took a commanding 7-2 point lead after 7 ends. The Fuechtmann rink was undaunted and overtook the lead, 9-7 with a rare and memorable 7 point end. Farovitch team came back with the hammer to score 3 in the 9th. Fuechtmann could not take advantage with the hammer in the 10th and the game was tied USA men team: Skip-Herman Fuechtmann, Vice-Calvin Rausch, Second-Steve Townshend, Lead-Steven Hubmer, Alternate-David Nathanson. The deaf team from Minnesota beat out 47 other hearing teams by winning 6 straight games to capture 1st place in the Novice Bonspiel held at St. Paul on March 26-28, 2010.
